When you go deep, your mind moves from surface awareness to subtle awareness, and finally to no consciousness. As counterintuitive as it may seem, embracing your ideas will cause your mind to de-excite, and you may eventually lose all consciousness, which is a symptom of the deepest stages of meditation.
Meditation might often feel like you're just sitting there going over your to-do list or thinking about the meditation practice itself, causing the time to pass quickly. Rest assured, even if you're not aware of it, you're probably meditating deeply. The move into a profound meditation might be as difficult as falling asleep.
It didn't mean your meditation was ineffective if you didn't feel any of these symptoms. From time to time, every mediator has experiences that feel more surface. The difference between novice and experienced mediators is that novices see their deep experiences as "excellent" meditations while seasoned meditators regard their surface experiences as "poor." Those who have practised meditation for a long time, on the other hand, remain judgmental.
The trick is to have a neutral attitude about all meditation experiences. Also, keep in mind that the quality of your experiences is heavily influenced by your constancy. Expect no substantial changes in the first few days, weeks, or months of meditation. They will happen someday, but generally when you least expect it.
Remember that all meditations are beneficial, and each one contributes to your overall well-being.
You are aware of time gaps.
Another sign that you've gone far into meditation is noticing that more time has passed than you can account for. In other words, you meditated for 20 minutes, but it only seemed like 10 minutes—and you have no recollection of what you were thinking about during those unaccounted-for 10 minutes.
You became absorbed in your own thoughts.

This is, without a doubt, the most difficult part of the exercise. Anyone who has tried to fall asleep at night by thinking about how they can't sleep has usually ended up staying awake for much longer. Instead, keep your mind occupied with something else, such as imagining sheep, counting backwards, or reading, according to sleep specialists. This is why some meditation approaches have em in the past.
